Abstract
The beginning of everything can be mirrored in any origin: a seed, a cell, a spark, a thought, an idea. Every story has a first step, every journey a first stride. The universe, life, art, a tale, even a simple game—all are born of a single beginning, each its own “big bang.”
In our minds, too, a “Big Bang” erupts—a spark of inspiration, a moment so vivid and transformative that it reshapes everything that came before. A single thought can ignite a chain reaction, changing what matters in the span of a heartbeat.
Idea
As someone constantly flooded with ideas—buzzing, colliding, dissolving, and reforming like particles of matter—I often find myself overwhelmed by their sheer force. Sparks of inspiration, visions, fragments of worlds, and flashes of possibility arrive uninvited, filling my nights and days.
There were times when I would leap out of bed just to sketch an idea, unable to rest until it was captured. Art was not merely something I practiced—it was everything.
This artwork is a tribute to those moments: to sleepless nights and restless hands, to the raw beauty of beginnings, to the power of ideas that demand to exist.
Process
To embody the essence of that first spark—the inner Big Bang—I turned to a medium that felt fitting: Polychromos colored pencils on Bristol board. Their ability to blend, layer, and adapt gave me the freedom to chase detail while keeping vibrancy alive. Highly pigmented and forgiving, they offered the control I needed to express both subtle gradients and explosive bursts of color.
Through them, I could give shape to the spark itself—alive, energetic, and ever-expanding.
Vibrance
Every idea arrives with its own vibrance: saturated, full of potential, alive with energy and possibility. Each one is a horizon waiting to be crossed, a journey waiting to be taken, an adventure waiting to unfold.
I love black-and-white art—the stark beauty of graphite, ink, and charcoal—but this work needed color. Life is colorful, the universe is colorful, and so are ideas. The spark had to shine in its own brilliance.
Story
This artwork marks a beginning—the beginning of creation, the beginning of a journey filled with its inevitable ups and downs, turns and surprises, struggles and revelations. For me, it remains a precious possession, framed and hanging proudly on my wall.
It is both a memento and a reminder: that everything starts with a spark, that beginnings hold unmatched beauty, and that the power of an idea can change everything.
