Abstract
This artwork marked the success in my return to the world of art, a time of rediscovery and experimentation, with ups and downs.
I wanted to challenge myself by exploring different techniques and media, stepping beyond the comfort of plain sketching. At the same time, I was drawn to the idea of incorporating three-dimensionality—merging precise detail with the illusion of depth, blending hyperrealism with 3D perspective to create something both familiar and new.
Process
To achieve this balance of realism and dimensionality, I needed a strong reference image—one that offered not only detail but also compelling perspective. After countless cups of coffee and much searching, I finally found the right source. I began with a light sketch, carefully laying down the structure of the cup, before slowly working my way into the finer details—the shifting tones of the coffee surface, the subtle curves of the form, the delicate play of depth and shadow.
Reflections
At the time, I was still relearning the language of art—grappling with reflections, shadows, the behavior of light, and the subtleties of diffusion. Every line was both a challenge and a lesson. Yet, I was determined to create a piece that would feel whole, something that would leave little room for regret or the urge to endlessly “fix.” This work became a milestone, a reminder that even early steps can carry their own kind of perfection.
Story
Created just over a decade ago, this piece still holds a special place in my heart. It stands among the works I am most fond of—happily framed, hanging on my wall, a quiet reminder of where my return to art truly began.
To me it signifies a successful chapter in my artistic journey, a testament to the joy of rediscovery and the endless possibilities that come with embracing new challenges.
